Every hero, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities, deserves a fair chance to roll for initiative. In a significant step toward inclusive tabletop gaming, Wizards of the Coast has announced a partnership with Sirius Dice and the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) to unveil the Dungeons & Dragons Accessible Adventures – Disability Pride Dice Set. This new 7-piece polyhedral dice collection has been carefully designed to break down long-standing barriers and make tabletop roleplaying games more accessible to a broader spectrum of players at the table.
Inspired by extensive research and development from the Disability & Accessibility Alliance (DAA) employee resource group at Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast, the dice set was built from the ground up for adventurers with low vision, neurodivergence, dyslexia, color vision deficiency, and mobility impairments. By combining striking visual aesthetics with thoughtful design adjustments and readable typography, the collection aims to deliver an experience worthy of a legendary loot drop while ensuring that no player is left out of the action.
The physical dice set is complemented by integrated digital support on D&D Beyond. Whether players are gathering around a physical table for an in-person campaign or connecting across distances for an online session, the Disability Pride Dice Set helps ensure that every roll, every critical success, and every unforgettable moment can be shared equally by all members of a gaming party.
Accessibility and Adventure
The foundation for the new Disability Pride Dice Set stems directly from the frustrations and challenges voiced by the disability community regarding standard, mass-market gaming dice. Bailey Vaughan, a D&D Beyond Senior Content Specialist and DAA Champion of Accessibility Advocacy and Education, noted that the diverse nature of the disability community meant that a single product could not possibly solve every barrier a disabled player might encounter.
Instead of aiming for an impossible universal fix, Vaughan explained that the development team focused on demonstrating how small, intentional adjustments can make a massive difference in overall accessibility. These thoughtful modifications are evident from the moment a player opens the product. The packaging features an easy-open cap designed to assist individuals with low vision or mobility impairments in identifying, opening, and storing their dice with greater ease.
Inside the package, the physical dice themselves incorporate numerous design innovations. These include significantly increased font sizes, high-contrast and easily distinctive colorways, and the adoption of the OpenDyslexic font to assist players with dyslexia. Additionally, the set features a unique arch-style four-sided die (d4) design that drastically improves visibility and handling compared to traditional pyramid shapes.
While accessibility and ergonomic design took a front seat throughout the development process, the creative teams were careful not to neglect the visual flair that tabletop gamers expect from their accessories. The color palette of the dice pays direct homage to the Disability Pride Flag, which was originally designed by disabled activist Ann Magill.
Vaughan observed that many tabletop enthusiasts share a deep affection for collecting unique dice to showcase to their friends during gaming sessions. The development team wanted to create something visually exciting and vibrant while firmly maintaining their core commitment to making the hobby more inclusive and accessible to marginalized players.

Play Anywhere with D&D Beyond
An essential functional component of the Disability Pride Dice Set is its comprehensive digital integration with D&D Beyond. With the purchase of the physical product, players receive a digital code that unlocks a matching digital version of the dice set on the platform, bridging the gap between physical and digital spaces and facilitating accessible play regardless of the medium. Furthermore, players who prefer entirely digital campaigns have the option to purchase the digital dice set independently on the platform.
While the digital rendering is not an exact one-for-one replica of its physical counterpart, many of the core design adjustments and readability enhancements have been successfully transitioned into the D&D Beyond toolset. This digital adaptation helps dismantle persistent barriers regarding visual identification and numerical readability during fast-paced gameplay.
By offering players the flexibility to choose between physical dice and digital tools—or to utilize both in tandem—Vaughan expressed hope that the product empowers users with the autonomy to select the exact experience that best suits their individual accessibility requirements. For Vaughan, the digital integration offers a personal solution to common challenges encountered at the gaming table. She noted that while she adores the game of Dungeons & Dragons, she frequently struggles with the cognitive load required to calculate each roll manually. Having the specialized dice available directly on D&D Beyond allows her to proudly display her disability pride to her gaming group while simultaneously utilizing the built-in computational support that the digital platform provides.
AAPD Joins the Party
A vital philanthropic component of this innovative release is that $10 from the purchase of every dice set goes directly to the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD). The organization works tirelessly to increase the political and economic power of people with disabilities across the United States. Vaughan emphasized that the collaboration with AAPD highlights the profound importance of building genuine community through play and ensuring that the disabled community is actively included in the conversations that shape products intended for them.
Reflecting on the philosophy guiding the project, Vaughan highlighted a foundational tenet of the disability rights movement: "nothing about us, without us." She explained that this guiding principle means all conversations, decisions, and product developments concerning the disability community must happen in direct collaboration with the disability community itself. This concept serves as a core pillar for everything the employee resource group undertakes, making it essential to find an advocacy partner that truly embodies the phrase. For the team, partnering with an organization that has spent more than three decades fighting alongside the disability community was a natural choice.
Whether players are battling fierce dragons, solving complex ancient mysteries, or simply gathering around a kitchen table with close friends for a weekly campaign, the Accessible Adventures Disability Pride Dice Set stands as a celebration of the core magic that makes Dungeons & Dragons enduringly popular: the fundamental truth that everyone belongs in the story.
Maria Town, President and CEO of AAPD, emphasized that the initiative represents a major step forward in eliminating unnecessary obstacles in both real and imaginary spaces. She noted that there should be no barriers to play in any world, whether real or fantastical. Within the realms of Dungeons & Dragons, players are given the freedom to dream up expansive, imaginative worlds full of endless adventure. With the introduction of these specialized dice, Town stated that the act of play will now be just as unlimited as the imaginations of Dungeon Masters or the diverse characters players bring to life. She expressed deep gratitude to Sirius Dice and Wizards of the Coast for their meaningful partnership and steadfast commitment to accessibility in the design of the collection. With accessibility placed at the heart of every single roll, these new dice help ensure that thrilling tabletop adventure is always within reach for everyone.
