The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) has announced an exciting new collaboration with Wizards of the Coast and Sirius Dice to launch a specialized Dungeons & Dragons dice set designed around disability pride. The initiative, originally shared on D&D Beyond, marks a significant step forward in making tabletop roleplaying games more accessible, inclusive, and welcoming to players of all abilities.
Every hero deserves a fair and accessible chance to roll for initiative. To help make that a reality, Wizards of the Coast, in partnership with Sirius Dice, has officially unveiled the Dungeons & Dragons Accessible Adventures – Disability Pride Dice Set. This new seven-piece polyhedral set has been carefully forged to dismantle long-standing barriers and make imaginative adventures more accessible for every kind of player gathered around the table.
Inspiration for the project stems directly from comprehensive research conducted by the Disability & Accessibility Alliance (DAA), an employee resource group representing workers at Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast. The resulting dice were thoughtfully crafted to support adventurers with low vision, neurodivergence, dyslexia, color vision deficiency, and mobility impairments. By combining striking visual aesthetics, deeply considered functional design, and easy readability, the product aims to deliver an experience worthy of a legendary loot drop while solving practical physical challenges.
Furthermore, the physical product is complemented by integrated digital support on D&D Beyond. Whether players are engaging in traditional in-person campaigns or connecting through online platforms, the Disability Pride Dice Set helps ensure that every critical roll, every dramatic triumph, and every unforgettable moment can be fully shared by everyone in the party.
Accessibility and Adventure
The journey toward creating the new Disability Pride Dice Set began with a recognition of the various frustrations frequently experienced by members of the disability community when using standard, mass-market gaming accessories. Bailey Vaughan, D&D Beyond Senior Content Specialist and DAA Champion of Accessibility Advocacy and Education, helped spearhead the initiative by listening closely to these community concerns.
Going into the project, the development team was acutely aware that the disability community is extraordinarily diverse. Because of this wide spectrum of lived experiences and needs, the team knew it would be impossible to engineer a single set of dice that could completely eliminate every potential barrier a disabled player might face. Instead, their overarching goal was to demonstrate how intentional, thoughtful adjustments can make a monumental difference in terms of overall accessibility and inclusion at the gaming table.
These practical adjustments found their way into multiple facets of the product, starting right from the unboxing experience. The set includes packaging designed with an easy-open cap, which significantly assists players with low vision or mobility impairments in identifying, opening, and securely storing their gaming pieces.
Beyond the packaging, the dice themselves feature deliberate design choices aimed at maximizing usability. These include increased font sizes for better legibility, highly distinctive color contrasts tailored to assist those with color vision deficiency, and the adoption of the OpenDyslexic font to make numbers easier to read for dyslexic players. Additionally, the set features a unique, arch-style d4 design that improves stability and visibility when rolled on the table.
While accessibility remained firmly in the driver’s seat throughout the design process, the team made sure that style and visual appeal were never compromised. The color scheme of the dice pays direct homage to the Disability Pride Flag, which was originally designed by disabled activist Ann Magill.
Many members of the development team are passionate tabletop gamers and self-described dice goblins who love collecting fun, visually distinct accessories to share with friends during game night. The team was determined to create something that looked visually exciting and vibrant while fiercely maintaining their core commitment to making the game accessible to a wider audience.

Play Anywhere with D&D Beyond
An essential function of the new Disability Pride Dice Set is its robust digital component seamlessly integrated into D&D Beyond. With every physical purchase of the set, players receive a unique digital code that unlocks a corresponding digital version of the dice on the D&D Beyond platform. This dual approach allows for flexible, accessible play across both traditional in-person sessions and virtual online campaigns. For players who prefer a strictly digital format, the platform also offers the option to purchase just the digital version of the set on its own.
Although the digital version is not a literal one-for-one replica of the physical resin or stone-style set, many of the core design adjustments have been thoughtfully translated to the D&D Beyond interface. These digital adaptations help dismantle ongoing barriers related to visual identification and quick readability during fast-paced encounters.
By offering players the flexibility to roll physical dice or utilize the digital component on their devices, Vaughan noted that she hopes the product empowers players with the autonomy to choose the specific medium that best suits their individual accessibility needs and personal comfort levels.
For Vaughan herself, the digital integration carries deep personal significance. She shared that while she has an immense adoration for the game of Dungeons & Dragons, she frequently struggles with the cognitive load required to quickly calculate each math-heavy roll during intense combat scenarios. Having the specialized dice available directly on D&D Beyond means she can proudly share her disability pride with her gaming party while simultaneously utilizing the built-in mathematical and organizational support that the platform offers.
AAPD Joins the Party
The final and perhaps most impactful component of this innovative product launch is a philanthropic partnership designed to support the broader disability community. Ten dollars from every purchase of the Disability Pride Dice Set goes directly to the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), a premier national organization dedicated to increasing the political and economic power of people with disabilities.
Vaughan emphasized that the collaboration with the AAPD speaks directly to the profound importance of building genuine community through play and ensuring that the disabled community is actively included in the conversations that affect them. Within the disability advocacy space, there is a well-known and guiding maxim: "nothing about us, without us."
This principle dictates that any conversations, policy decisions, or product designs concerning the disability community must be developed in direct collaboration with disabled individuals themselves. Vaughan noted that this philosophy has served as a core foundational pillar for everything her employee resource group does, making it vital to find an external partner that truly embodied the phrase. Looking across the landscape, they realized there was no better ally than an organization that has spent the last 31 years advocating side-by-side with the disability community.
Whether players are spending their evenings battling ferocious dragons, solving intricate ancient mysteries, or simply gathering around a kitchen table with close friends for a weekly campaign, the Accessible Adventures Disability Pride Dice Set serves as a vibrant celebration of the core magic that makes Dungeons & Dragons so enduring: the fundamental truth that everyone belongs in the story.
Echoing this sentiment, Maria Town, President and CEO of the AAPD, highlighted the expansive potential that true accessibility brings to creative spaces. There should be no barriers to play in any world, whether that world is real or entirely fantastical, Town noted. In Dungeons & Dragons, participants are given the incredible freedom to dream up vast, imaginative universes full of limitless adventure. With the creation of these specialized dice, the act of play can finally match the boundless imaginations of Dungeon Masters and the diverse characters brought to life by players. Town expressed profound gratitude to Sirius Dice and Wizards of the Coast for their meaningful partnership and steadfast commitment to prioritizing accessibility in the design process.
With accessibility placed firmly at the heart of every single roll, these newly released dice help ensure that epic adventure is always within reach for every player at the table.
